The only things you need to bring to rent a boat are a valid ID (a driver's license will do the trick) and a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover).
Yes, you can make reservations for a boat on our website and we strongly encourage it, especially for holidays and weekends. Although we have enough boats most of the time, certain days through the summer fill up quicker than others. Some boats (like the cruise boat) require reservations because of the preparation needed to get it ready to go.

No, the cost of a driver is not included in the cost of a rental. We do offer driver services for boats. The weekday price is $40 an hour, weekends and holidays are $55 per hour, and our usually used on our cruise boat. Reservations are required if you would like to have us provide a driver, please give call or text us at 419-368-5951 (Charles Mill) or 419-938-6488 (Pleasant Hill) to set everything up.
If you have never driven a boat before, don't worry! Before each rental goes out one of our trained employees will give you a quick but thorough run-down of how the boat operates as well as tips on which spots on the lake to avoid. All of our boats are easy to operate and are chosen based on their reliability.
If you were born before Jan, 1 1982, the State of Ohio does not require you to have a Boater's License. If you born on or after Jan. 1 1982, and do not have a valid boating license, we can administer a brief (5-10 minutes) safety exam prior to your rental to ensure that you are safe while on the water.
No, we provide all the safety equipment you need to be on the water, including life jackets, a fire extinguisher, a safety flag and whistle, a throw cushion, an oar and an anchor. If you have life jackets that you would like to bring yourself, please feel free to do so.
Fitted children's life jackets are also provided. Ohio law does not require children to wear life jackets on boats 16' and over, however we strongly encourage it for their safety.
Absolutely. Be aware, however, that anything Fido leaves behind on the boat will be your responsibility. We charge a $40 cleaning fee for anything that needs to be cleaned before we send it out again, including doggy hair and droppings.
You can always adjust your reservation without a fee. Prices and availability may vary based on when you would like to adjust to.
Customers will receive a full refund with at least 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows and cancellations less than 24 hours from the start time will be charged the full price."
That's not a problem. We have "Sunset" rates on our pontoon boats and fishing boats that are the same as our four-hour rental rates. Sunset rentals allow you to keep the boat from the time we close until the next day at 8 a.m.
Please note, we do not offer Sunset rates for the Cruise Boat or TIki Boat, except for nights with special events like fireworks.
We offer optional prop insurance, as well as fun extras, like floating mats at Charles Mill, and water sports equipment at Pleasant Hill. The cost of gas is extra at Pleasant Hill Marina. At Charles Mill the gas is pre-paid with the rental.
Prop insurance is an option (except on sunset rentals, where it is required) we offer to help protect you from the cost of replacing a prop. Due to the shallowness of the lake and the many submerged logs, it is not uncommon to bang the prop around on the bottom of the lake. The insurance costs $14 at Charles Mill, $17 at Pleasant Hill, paid before you go out, and will protect you from paying to get the prop repaired.
We accept cash, credit and debit cards for boat rentals. No personal checks please.
We only accept credit or debit cards for Sunset rentals.
Our weekday rentals are discounted from our standard weekend rates. Occasionally we will run special rental deals on our Facebook page. Follow us to catch the next deal!
This depends on the size of the boat you are renting. Our fishing boats can accommodate 4 people, our pontoon boats can handle from 8 to 11 people, and our cruise boat 18 people.
Keep in mind that everybody on the boat counts, even small children and infants. There are strict weight limits on the boat as well, as overloading a boat can cause potential balance issues.
There are several places to eat nearby. If you bring your own food, we have several picnic tables along the water as well as a large back deck that can accommodate large parties. The park also has several pavilions which can host large parties. Call Charles Mill Lake Park at 419-368-6885 or Pleasant Hill Lake Park at 419-938-7884 to arrange a reservation.
Mifflin, located less than a mile from Charles Mill Marina, has several options for food, including The Endzone, Chuy's Tacos and Margaritas, Oak Park Tavern, Mifflin Dairy Bar, and the Mifflin Market.
Perrysville, located a mile from Pleasant Hill Marina, has several options for food, including the Wedgewing Family Restaurant, Perrysville Dairy Bar and the Perrysville C Store. Malabar Farm Restaurant and Mohican Lodge & Conference Center are also a short driving distance away.
