How do I make a reservation?
Reservations can be made online up to 2 hours prior to the time of rental. If needed, reservations can also be made over the phone. Full payment is required when the booking is made. (See our cancellation policy.)
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
We understand plans change. If you need to cancel, please call us 24 hours in advance and we will fully refund your card.
We will gladly reschedule your booking if another day works better for you.
What if inclement weather strikes the day of the reservation?
We make exceptions to our cancellation policy for inclement weather. If there is severe weather on the day of your reservation, you may reschedule or cancel and receive a full refund.
If your time on the water is cut short due to severe weather during the rental, we will issue a raincheck that can be redeemed on a different day.
Are pets allowed on rental boats?
Absolutely! Please keep your pets on a leash around others and be mindful of their paws on the seats to avoid tears. A $50 cleaning fee may be charged if excessive pet hair is left on the boat.
Do I need a boater’s license?
No, you don't need a boater's license! But there are a few things to know:
Boats under 10 horsepower (most boats at Charles Mill Marina): Boating License not required.
Boats over 10 horsepower (all boats at Pleasant Hill Marina and the Charles Mill Marina 25-Person Cruise Boat):
- If born before January 1, 1982: Boating License Not Required
- If born on or after January 1, 1982: Boating License Required, if you do not have a license we can adminster a brief 10-minute license test that will allow you to operate a rental boat for that day.
Our staff ensures you are comfortable and legal before leaving the dock.
Can I fish off the rental boat?
Yes! Please note any dirt or grime left behind from fishing may incur a $50 cleaning fee.
Is food allowed on boat rentals?
You may bring coolers with food, drinks, bait, etc. Coolers are also available to rent. Remember, boats have weight capacities and coolers contribute to the total weight.
What is your alcohol and drug policy?
The consumption of hard liquor, spirits, and illegal drugs (including marijuana) is prohibited on all rental boats. Beer, hard seltzer, and wine are allowed, but the boat operator must remain sober.
Operating a boat under the influence is a first-degree misdemeanor in Ohio, with penalties including up to six months in jail, a fine up to $1,000, and up to five years probation.
How old do I have to be to operate a rental boat?
No one under 18 may operate a powerboat at Charles Mill Marina.
What do I need to bring with me for my boat rental?
All safety equipment is on the boat. Inflatable rafts are welcome but cannot be pulled behind the boat and should only be used in designated swim areas. Grills are prohibited; however, the lakeside patio is available for cookouts.
Are the boats handicap accessible?
Boats are not equipped for wheelchairs, but individuals with mobility issues who can stand and pivot have enjoyed time on the water with assistance.
How far in advance should I make a reservation?
Typically, a week’s notice is enough. Weekends and holidays fill up faster, so earlier booking is recommended.
Are walk-in reservations available?
Sometimes yes, but reservations are first come-first served. We highly recommend making a reservation.
