Prop-er Repair: Repairing Your Damaged Propeller
Have floating logs and hidden rocks chewed up your propeller? A damaged prop can lead not only to reduced fuel efficiency and lowered boat performance, but in extreme cases can also damage your motor. So what can you do about it?
While buying a new prop is certainly one option, repairing your current prop has become a more cost friendly option for many boat owners. At Pleasant Hill Marina, we offer prop repair services that can make your damaged prop look and perform like brand new from around $79.00-$99.00, compared to $139.00-$300.00 for the average cost of a new prop.
The first step in our process involves straightening and returning the blades to the correct rake and pitch, maximizing performance. Once the blades have been returned to their original position, weld material is added to the dented and broken spots on the prop, returning it to its original diameter.
Once the weld material is added, the prop is ground down to return it to the normal size before it is balanced and sized correctly. Now back in original form, the prop is buffed and repainted. The entire process takes just over a week and can enhance the performance of your motor and increase fuel efficiency.
